How long is the Tour du Mont Blanc? The short answer is; It depends.

The Tour du Mont Blanc, or TMB as it’s affectionately called, isn’t a one size fits all adventure. The time it takes to hike it depends entirely on how you choose to experience it. Are you going supported or unsupported? Will you be carrying a tent or staying in cozy huts or hotels? Are you carving out time to explore beautiful villages like Courmayeur, or planning to move directly from point to point without detours?

At its full length, the Tour du Mont Blanc trail is a 170 km loop that circles the Mont Blanc massif, with about 10,000 meters of total elevation gain and descent. Most people hike between 15 to 20 kilometers a day, so completing the full trail usually takes anywhere from 9 to 11 days of walking. This can vary depending on whether you are carrying your own gear or have support along the way.

At Life Happens Outdoors, we believe the journey should be defined by the quality of the experience, not just the number of kilometers covered.

That’s why we offer a fully guided and supported version of the Mont Blanc hike, combining scenic trails with comfortable overnights in a mix of mountain huts and charming hotels. Instead of following the full 170 km loop, we focus on the most beautiful and rewarding 110 km of the route. This allows us to skip some of the less remarkable sections and comfortably complete the adventure in 8 days, including arrival and departure.

This is the Mont Blanc circuit at its best, combining dramatic views, cultural charm, and all the support you need to stay present and enjoy every step.

So if you’ve been wondering how long does it take to hike the Tour du Mont Blanc, the real answer depends on your style, your pace, and your goals. But if you are looking for a TMB hike that is inspiring, challenging, and accessible without the stress, we would love to show you the way.
