Who Is Hari Budha Magar?

Hari Budha Magar’s story is one of resilience, determination, and inspiration. Born in a remote village in Nepal, Hari served as a Gurkha soldier before an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2010 resulted in the loss of both his legs above the knee. Despite this life-altering event, Hari refused to let his disability define him. Instead, he used it as a springboard to prove that there are no limits to what one can achieve with grit and a dream.

Hari’s Mountaineering Achievements

Hari’s name is synonymous with breaking barriers in the world of mountaineering. His accomplishments include:

  • Reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro (5,895m), Africa’s highest mountain.
  • Ascending Mont Blanc (4,809m) in the Alps, Europe’s highest currently accessible peak.
  • In 2023, Hari made history by summiting Mount Everest (8,849m), becoming the first double above-the-knee amputee to achieve this feat.
  • This year he became first double above knee amputee in history to summit Denali in the United States (6190m), his fourth of the seven summits*

Hari’s achievements are a testament to his relentless pursuit of excellence and his mission to inspire others to overcome their own obstacles, whatever they may be.
